MEET OUR EXPERT MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTION TEAM

Professor midhad zulic

Head Professor, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self-Defense

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt

Professor Midhad Zulic is a lifelong martial artist and a 2nd-degree black belt in Carlson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Carlson Gracie Junior. His martial arts journey began in Bosnia, where he started training in Wado-Ryu Karate at a young age. After moving to the United States in 1994, he joined CFC, training in Shidokan Karate under Eddie Yoshimura. Often referred to as the “triathlon of martial arts,” Shidokan Karate incorporates full-contact karate, Muay Thai, and grappling— the latter of which sparked his passion for jiu jitsu. This led him to join New Breed Jiu-Jitsu Academy in 2006, and two years later, he became part of the Carlson Gracie Team.

In 2011, Professor Midhad earned his purple belt and soon began traveling with Carlson Gracie Junior, assisting with seminars and teaching kids’ classes. When Carlson Gracie Headquarters opened in Chicago, he was entrusted with leading the morning program. His dedication to Jiu-Jitsu took him to Rio de Janeiro, where he trained at the birthplace of Carlson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and completed the Carlson Gracie Instructor’s Seminar.

In the spring of 2024, Professor Midhad joined Carlson Gracie North Shore as the head instructor, bringing his expertise, passion, and years of experience to the next generation of martial artists.
